Company History
Law firms once delivered all the property and corporate services provided by Espreon today. As solicitors realised the value of outsourcing these relatively high volume, low margin, transactional services, our industry evolved and grew further when associated information held by government agencies and regulatory bodies became digitised.
Our BeginningsWe initially formed in 1990 as Legalco, via the merger of two traditional law stationers who began trading in the 1950s, Southern Legal Search and Chisholm & Co. At that time, Legalco was a small, Sydney business with less than 50 people.
Recognising the potential of the burgeoning property and information brokerage market, Legalco Limited lodged its prospectus with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on 7 April 2000. Subsequently an application was also lodged for listing on the Australian Stock Exchange Limited (ASX), and on 1 June 2000 Legalco Limited began trading on the ASX with share capital of $25 million shares, at an issue price of $1.00.
EvolutionSince then the company has grown both organically and by acquisitions to become one of the largest providers of information brokerage, property related services and corporate services in Australia.
By January 2005 we were the sum of 12 businesses, with 250 staff and 8 offices, many of which operated under different business names and service standards. To consolidate our strengths, raise the standard our standards of service, and realise our full potential we decided to bring our parts together and rebrand under one common name, Espreon. This was realised on the 6 July 2005, when Legalco Limited changed its name to Espreon Limited by special resolution of shareholders.
TodayEspreon’s core focus is to partner with organisations in the financial, legal and accounting professions, to free them from transactional processes and allow them to focus on their core business.
